To respond to the demand for energy talent training in the era of artificial intelligence, on May 24th, at the 2025 University "AI + Energy" Academic Seminar held by SJTU College of Smart Energy,  Shanghai Jiao Tong University, together with Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, and Dalian University of Technology, jointly released the Initiative for the "AI + Energy" University Student Extracurricular Science and Technology Innovation Competition. It is hoped that through the competition as a carrier, a large number of compound talents with innovative thinking, proficiency in AI technology application, and professional energy literacy will be discovered and cultivated.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University officially launched the 1st National "AI + Energy" University Student Science and Technology Innovation Competition. As the first national university student sci-tech innovation competition themed on the in-depth integration of two strategic fields—AI and energy, it aims to respond to the "dual carbon" strategy and the construction of a Digital China, build an integrated innovation platform for industry, university, research and application, stimulate the innovative vitality of young students, and provide talent support for the green transformation and intelligent development of national energy.
